For more than four decades, designers have relied on David Gilbert & Associates for fabulous lines and for Sheffield Custom, our in-house program for custom case goods and upholstery. In April 2026, Pete Thornfield took over the showroom with a renewed focus on incredible service.
We source fabulous lines, from Vanguard and Hickory White to Theodore Alexander, Jonathan Charles, Old Biscayne, Summer Classics, and many more — over forty makers in all. And we’re keeping the floor fresh to give our clients inspiration and product to experience in person.
We believe the showroom must provide impeccable service and truly partner with designers. We pick up the phone. We know your projects. We chase lead times, track freight and stay with every order until it’s delivered.
If you haven’t stopped by, please do! We’ve renovated the showroom: opened walls, brightened the floor and added a dedicated fabric resource area to die for, with plenty of space to make your selections comfortably without leaving the building.
And remember, everything on the floor is available for immediate purchase.

Sheffield is our in-house custom program for case goods and upholstery. Long known for traditional pieces, Sheffield Custom now works in any style, from a clean-lined modern credenza or channel-back sofa to a carved period chest, made to the dimensions your plan calls for.
Bring us your idea, an inspiration photo and the dimensions. We’ll work through materials, finish and fabric with you and build it.
Change the finish, hardware, base, top, arm or fabric. Keep the silhouette and make it yours.
Love a manufacturer’s case goods or upholstery piece but it’s not the right size? We’ll build it to fit the wall, the window or the alcove.

Pete grew up around design: his father was an architect, custom home builder and designer. He took the helm of David Gilbert & Associates in 2026 after more than 25 years leading brands at companies including Frito-Lay and Dave & Buster’s, with a renewed focus on service, great lines and fresh inventory.
